Doha Triathlon will take place on Friday 8th February 2019, in the surrounding area of the Museum of Islamic Art, with the scenic view of Doha’s skyline in the background.
This is the third edition of the event which started on 20th January 2017. In addition of the full Olympic Triathlon, Sprint and Super Sprint distances that we offered last year, we have expanded the offer to take adults in the Super Sprint distance. This is for beginners who would like to give a try to triathlon, as a first step to enter triathlon competition in individual mode. There is also an official Duathlon race for kids ranging from 7 to 12 years old.
Kids Duathlon – 2 km bike, 800m run
Super Sprint – 375m swim, 10 km bike, 2.5k run
Sprint – 750m swim, 20 km bike, 5k run
Olympic – 1500m swim, 40 km bike, 10k run
(*) Note: Although the different races are based in these distances, in order to make looping in the cycling and running courses easier and safer for participants, you might find differences.
Kids Duathlon (7-9 and 10-12 years old)
Super Sprint (13-15 and 16+ adults)
Sprint and Olympic (16+ adults)
The swim will take place in the bay behind the Museum. Doha average sea water temperature in February is about 19 degrees Celsius (66.2 Fahrenheit) and therefore, as per ITU rules, the use of wetsuit will be most likely optional.
Transition will be placed next to Richard Serra’s ‘7’ Sculpture. The cycling leg will be along the Corniche and back to the Museum Park for the run.
The Museum of Islamic Art, is one of the Doha’s most iconic building, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect I.M. Pei. It hosts a collection of finest Islamic art pieces from across the Islamic world from the 7th to the 19th century.
